Lizzo Was Just Named Entertainer of the Year by ‘Time’

We have no doubt that Lizzo is feeling good as hell after this brand-new announcement.

The 31-year-old singer was just named Time’s Entertainer of the Year, and we’re not surprised whatsoever.

Lizzo first gained popularity earlier this year with the success of her self-empowering hits like “Good as Hell,” “Truth Hurts” and “Juice.”

Most recently, she became the most nominated artist for the upcoming 2020 Grammy Awards, with a total of eight nods: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance (“Truth Hurts”), Best R&B Performance (“Exactly How I Feel” featuring Gucci Mane), Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Jerome”) and Best Urban Contemporary Album (Cuz I Love You—Deluxe).

Who Is Lizzo?

She was born as Melissa Viviane Jefferson. “Lizzo” is a combination of her childhood nickname, “Lissa,” and Jay-Z’s 2001 song “Izzo.” She grew up as a singer and a classically trained flutist, though it wasn’t an easy journey to stardom. At one point, she was nearly broke and living out of her car, which is why she preaches gratitude.

In an interview with Time, Lizzo revealed that she wants to continue spreading body-positive messages through music.

“I’ve been doing positive music for a long-ass time,” she said. “Then the culture changed. There were a lot of things that weren’t popular but existed, like body positivity, which at first was a form of protest for fat bodies and black women and has now become a trendy, commercialized thing. Now I’ve seen it reach the mainstream. Suddenly, I’m mainstream!”

Guess she really is 100 percent that b**** Entertainer of the Year.

Lizzo’s Net Worth Amounts to a Whole Lot of ‘Juice’
