We Volunteer as Tribute! A ‘Hunger Games’ Theme Park Is Under Way
If you’ve ever wanted to spend a day in the life of Katniss Everdeen, your chance has finally arrived.
Earlier today, Lionsgate revealed its plans to bring the sick and twisted dystopian world of Panem to life with a Hunger Games theme park attraction. We're not actually sure we want to participate in a deadly reality show competition IRL, but hey, we'll try anything once.
The new theme park, named Lionsgate Movie World, will be located within Jeju Shinhwa World, an integrated resort and tourist destination in South Korea, and will span approximately 1.3 million square feet.
Similar to Walt Disney’s model, the park will be divided into seven zones or “lands,” each devoted to a different Lionsgate film including The Hunger Games, Twilight, Robin Hood, Now You See Me, Divergent, The Cabin in the Woods and Saw. Welp, it's certainly not going to be the Happiest Place on Earth...
Lionsgate Movie World is scheduled to open in 2019.
