Three cheers for Lego. The toy brand announced last week that it’s launching a “Women of NASA” collection, which will include four female scientists (two astronauts, a computer scientist and an astronomer), on November 1. Because who run the cosmos? Girls!
Mae Jemison (the first African American woman to set foot in space), Sally Ride (the first American woman to go to space), Nancy Roman (aka the “Mother of Hubble”) and Margaret Hamilton (software developer for the Apollo) are all going to be available in tiny Lego form for kids (and, OK, adults) to purchase. The 231-piece set also includes a buildable Challenger space shuttle and Hubble telescope.
Now we just need the Hidden Figures scientists immortalized in plastic figurine form. We’ll wait.
