Kristen Stewart Ditches Heels Seconds After Exiting the Red Carpet—& There’s Photo Proof

In 2018, Kristen Stewart made headlines for kicking off her heels and breaking the 'no flats' rule at the Cannes Film Festival. And now, over four years later, the Spencer star is ditching her high heels once again—this time at the 2022 Oscars.

The 31-year-old actress stepped out on the red carpet in a cropped black tuxedo with shorts from Chanel, complete with matching black pumps. But soon after she posed for pics, an image surfaced of the star rocking a different pair of footwear.

LA Times reporter Amy Kaufman shared a snap of the actress mingling behind the scenes, and instead of the black heels she modeled on the red carpet, she was seen donning white socks with black flats. Kaufman wrote, "Kristen Stewart immediately changed out of heels and into flats the second she got off the red carpet. Amen, girl. #Oscars"

The bold move comes as no surprise, since Stewart is known for breaking fashion rules. In fact, while chatting with The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, Stewart spoke out about the expectation for women to wear heels on the red carpet. She said, “There’s definitely a distinct dress code, right? People get really upset at you if you don’t wear heels, or whatever. But you can’t ask people that anymore. It’s kind of a given. Like, if you’re not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you cannot ask me either.” *Cue mic drop.*

This year, Stewart was nominated for her first Oscar for Best Lead Actress. She may not have taken home the statue, but she's still a winner in our book.
