Kristen Bell Says She Wakes Up at ‘4-Year-Old O’Clock’
Question: What time does your alarm go off in the morning?
Answer: At 4-year-old o’clock.
Q: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
A: Matcha.
Q: Do you work out in the morning?
A: I try to! I definitely prefer morning workouts so I can ride those endorphins as long as possible.
Q: What’s for breakfast?
A: If I have time, I’ll make myself a proper breakfast with eggs and some sort of veggie. Or if I’m in a hurry and running out, I’ll grab a This Bar Saves Lives bar for the road. My sister-in-law is the best cook I’ve ever met. I’ll look in the fridge and think we have no food! And she’ll immediately open the fridge and make the most decadent, delicious healthy meal out of nothing. It’s magic. She’ll make me breakfast sometimes and it’s always perfect.
Q: Coffee or tea?
A: Tea.
Q: How do you get organized for the day?
A: I make LOTS of lists.
Q: What tools do you use to stay on top of your day?
A: I’m very reliant on the family calendar and the Marco Polo app. It’s basically video texting and makes communication quick and easy.
Q: Do you carry snacks or drinks in your purse on long days?
A: Always. Long days. Short days. Medium days. My purse is basically a pantry.
Q: Speaking of, what’s one thing in your purse that might surprise us?
A: I generally have at least one pair of undies in there. Not really on purpose, but I’ll often look in and think, ‘Huh. How’d those get in there?’
Q: And one thing you couldn’t get through the day without?
A: Spindrift. I rely on it for a pick-me-up and I know exactly what I’m getting because the ingredients are so transparent. It’s just sparkling water and squeezed fruit. I love it.
Q: What do you usually eat for lunch?
A: I try to eat what I call a garbage salad—just a ton of different veggie ingredients to keep my energy up. But I also ate a baked potato for lunch yesterday, so there’s that. You win some, you lose some.
Q: Is dinner usually at home or out?
A: We do both, but I like to cook at home whenever I can.
Q: Who cooks in your household more: you or Dax?
A: Me!
Q: How do you unwind after dinner?
A: Dateline.
Q: What time do you go to bed?
A: I try to go to bed as early as I can so I can get enough hours of sleep in before those human alarm clocks go off.
Q: Is there one thing you always do before bed?
A: Wash my face.
Q: What’s usually the last thing you think about before falling asleep?
A: I generally go to bed pondering the unanswerable question: What CAN’T Keith Morrison lean on?
The answer, as far as this editor sees it? Nothing.
