Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sister duo behind fashion label Rodarte, are known for intricate pieces and meticulous practices, so it makes sense that Kirsten Dunst had a hand in her own Rodarte gown for this year’s Golden Globes. What we weren’t expecting was that it was apparently designed over pillow talk at a sleepover.

Speaking to Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet, the 37-year-old actor, who is nominated for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy for On Becoming a God in Central Florida, revealed that the details for her lacy dusty pink gown—specifically the lace—were conceived during a “sleepover”. From what we can understand, the trio chose from a number of fabrics over popcorn, movies and hot gossip. We’re kidding, of course, although the designers and Dunst have been close friends since the brand’s early days. (Dunst also starred in their first film, Woodshock.)
Right, that’s what we did at our sleepovers growing up, too…
Nevertheless, Dunst’s first Golden Globes were at the tender age of 12, so it’s nice to see things come full-circle.
