Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince William Admit That King Charles Is a Bit of an Overworker

King Charles III waited 70+ years to take over his current gig as monarch of the United Kingdom, so it's no wonder that he's firing on all cylinders. But, according to his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, and his eldest son, Prince William, the king can be a bit of an overworker...and he apparently always has been.

Back when King Charles celebrated his 70th birthday, the BBC released a documentary special, titled Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, where they interviewed the Prince of Wales. During the interview, Prince William opened up about his dad's work ethic: “He has amazing personal discipline,” the prince said, per Hello! “So, he has—and it's frustrated me in the past a lot—he has a routine. The only way to fit all this stuff in is things have to be compartmentalized. The man never stops.”

Prince William recalled that his father has always kept his nose to the grindstone. “I mean, when we were kids there [were] bags and bags and bags of work that the office just sent to him,” the Prince of Wales said. “We could barely even get to his desk to say goodnight to him.”

But, Prince William isn't the only one who has noticed his father's strict work ethic. Apparently, King Charles's other half, Camilla Parker Bowles, has noticed it, too.

As noted by Showbiz CheatSheet, the Queen Consort's feelings were highlighted in the book, The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor—the Truth and the Turmoil. In this book, author Tina Brown says that “The prince’s routine was relentless,” and Bowles apparently began to “feel some empathy” for Princess Diana once she realized how rigidly he stuck to his schedule.

But, it seems that King Charles comes from a line of hard workers, and according to one count, he's actually the second hardest-working member of his family.

The Court Circular, which keeps track of all the royal family's engagements, named Princess Anne the hardest working member of 2022, thanks to the whopping 214 engagements she attended. This is the fifth time she has taken the title.

But, King Charles was close behind, with an impressive 181 royal outings attended himself.
