Here’s Why Kelly Ripa Had to Pretend She Was Walking on a Catwalk Today on ‘Live’

When it comes to fashion, Kelly Ripa knows sometimes you simply need to sacrifice comfort in order to really nail a look. And her outfit on today’s episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan was the perfect example.

On Friday, the producers of Live shared a behind-the-scenes clip before the start of the morning show. In the video, which was part of the Instagram series, “Kelly’s Fashion Finder,” we get a glimpse of the 50-year-old TV personality showing off her ensemble—a Ralph Lauren turtleneck ($850) and Dries Van Noten skirt (similar to this one)—while her co-host, Ryan Seacrest, following closely behind.

“Look at the catwalk,” Seacrest says in the clip. “Do you see the catwalk?” However, the All My Children alum was quick to point out why she was walking as if she was on a high fashion runway. “Because I have to move my thighs around each other,” she responded. (We’ve all been there.)

It’s clear from Ripa’s movement that her pencil skirt was not the most comfortable. The purple and blue patterned piece went down to her knees and almost reminded us of a galaxy in outer space. She topped off her look with her favorite pair of blue suede Gianvito Rossi pumps.

And it looks like the sacrifice paid off because it wasn’t long before the comments section flooded with compliments on the actress’s ensemble. One user wrote, “You look amazing Kelly,” while another added “So flawless. Thank y’all for bringing joy and laughter into homes every morning!! Such a positive show!”

Work it, Kel.
