Hair twins James Corden and Katy Perry car danced their way through the streets of Los Angeles and broke down the genesis of the widely publicized Taylor Swift and Perry feud on the latest installment of Carpool Karaoke. Ready, set, hold on to your passenger seat, because the source of this bad blood is rather surprising.
Sitting shotgun, Perry provides her account of what really went down between the pop stars. According to the “I Kissed a Girl” singer, it all started when three of her backup dancers asked if she'd mind if they went on tour with Swift. Since she wasn't touring at the time, Perry said "go for it," but they should work a thirty-day contingency clause into their contract in case they wanted to join her on a tour she had slated for the following year. When she set the exact dates for her tour, she texted the dancers to let them know. The dancers approached Swift's management to get out of their contracts and instead of being understanding, the Swift team swiftly fired the dancers. Way harsh, Tai. Perry alleges she tried to speak with Swift directly, but she wasn't having it. In a very T. Swift move, the "Blank Space" singer wrote a song about Perry instead... Yeah, we expected it to be juicier, too.
Corden asked Perry if she'd be willing to "take the beef off the grill" and Perry said yes, she'd be open to it if Swift apologized.
Your move, T. Swift.
