Katy Perry is the first official judge to join American Idol at its new network (ABC).

Perry excitedly shared the news on Twitter. “SO thrilled @ABCNetwork is bringing back @AmericanIdol, and I’m bringing it back to the MUSIC see you at auditions,” she tweeted.

The announcement comes less than a week after American Idol veterans Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson traded in their idol status for big red chairs at NBC’s rival reality singing competition, The Voice.

Although American Idol took its final bow at Fox in 2016, ABC recently announced its plans to bring the show into its broadcasting fold. Perry’s fellow benchwarmers on the judging panel are still TBD, but they have some pretty, pretty big shoes to fill.
