Katie Holmes loves a good lakeside view, it seems. The actress recently posted a photo of herself attending a press junket over Zoom and, like many of us, opted to use a background rather than show off a corner of her home. Except that this background, of a dramatic sun setting over water and a dock, looks very familiar. Hmm, where have we seen Holmes posing on a dock in front of a moody sunset before?
Sure, the background might actually be the poster for Holmes’s new film, The Secret: Dare to Dream, but we can’t help but get major throwback vibes to her breakout role as Joey on Dawson’s Creek.
The upcoming release marks Holmes’s first starring role in quite some time and we’re super excited to see her taking center stage once more. The movie is based on the very popular 2006 self-help book The Secret, and follows single mother of three Miranda Wells living in Louisiana and struggling with debt, the loss of her husband and an oncoming hurricane. The film also stars Josh Lucas and Jerry O’Connell as her competing love interests (or so we assume, based on the trailer). The movie is set to be released this Friday, July 31 on Apple’ TV+ and will also be available on demand.
While we’re always down for a new feel-good movie viewing experience (especially in the middle of pandemic), we have to admit we have some pretty specific hopes for this one. Namely, that there better be a romantic scene of Holmes getting kissed on a dock. And, based solely on the movie poster, we’d say there’s a pretty good chance we’ll see just that.
