Kate Middleton and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, just joined forces to video chat with nurses around the world.
To mark International Nurses Day (Tuesday, May 11), members of the royal family came together to pay tribute to nurses both in and outside of the U.K. Kensington Palace shared a special video, which included a voice recording from Queen Elizabeth as well as shoutouts from Prince Charles, Prince William and Camilla Parker Bowles, in an Instagram post.
However, the main portion of the clip focused on the recent video calls made between the Duchess of Cambridge, Sophie and nurses in seven Commonwealth countries, including India, Cyprus, Malawi, Australia, Sierra Leone, the Bahamas and the U.K. Yup, this is the first time we’ve seen members of the royal gang (who don’t live together) team up for a virtual royal engagement.
"Their Royal Highnesses dialed into a call with nurses in Queensland, Australia who provide culturally appropriate services to local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and spoke to nurses at the Aberdeen Women’s Centre in Sierra Leone and LV Prasad Eye Institute in India—both of which The Countess of Wessex has previously visited," a statement from Kensington Palace read.
During the conversations, the royal moms thanked the institutions (many of which are patronages of the family) for their dedication and their hard work “on a day-to-day basis.”
“It's amazing that you're able to still continue the support and the care that you'd normally provide even under these really difficult circumstances,” Kate said in part of the clip.
