Kate Middleton and Prince William just defied royal protocol by showing PDA during their latest outing.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently embarked on a three-day tour of Ireland. The couple concluded day one with a trip to the Guinness Storehouse, where they toured the Gravity Bar with a pint of beer. (Casual.)

At one point, Middleton gave fans a royal “aww” moment when she reached out to grab onto Prince William’s arm (which is considered a big deal for working royals).

Why? Members of the royal family aren’t supposed to show affection in public, particularly during an official outing.

Normally, Prince William and Middleton try to refrain from engaging in any sort of PDA, similar to how employees are expected to behave in the workplace. Not that we’d ever turn our nose up at a little affection between the duo.

For the outing, Middleton wore a metallic emerald Falconetti dress by The Vampire’s Wife. (This exact color is still available for preorder for a whopping $2,044.) The duchess accessorized the dress with statement earrings, a gold sequin Wilber & Gussie clutch ($314) and emerald green velvet Manolo Blahnik BB pumps ($695) with a 4-inch heel.

Subtly breaking royal protocol while majorly making fans smile? Check.
