This week, the royal family joined an emotional procession to bring Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. And if you noticed that Meghan Markle didn’t arrive with Kate Middleton, you should know that there’s a totally undramatic reason why they took separate cars.
The Totally Undramatic Reason Kate Middleton & Meghan Markle Didn’t Arrive Together at Queen’s Procession
As Page Six points out, Markle wasn’t allowed to ride in the same car as Middleton, even though the royal women arrived in pairs. The reason? Middleton’s husband, Prince William, is now the first in line to the British throne after King Charles III. So, the Princess of Wales’s new ranking enables her to sit alongside the Queen Consort, Camilla Parker Bowles.
Middleton’s outfit honored both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana. The (new) Princess of Wales wore a diamond and pearl brooch on her breast jacket. According to The Court Jeweller, Her Majesty wore the same brooch during a trip to South Korea in 1999. People also noted that Middleton donned a pair of earrings worn by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Note to self: There’s a hidden meaning behind everything the royal family does. And we are *here* for it.
