Per Marie Claire, this mental health texting charity service is run by Shouts, which she helped establish through the Royal Foundation. Accessible to residents currently living in the United Kingdom, Shouts 85258 is a “free, confidential, 24/7 text-messaging support service” that helps anyone struggling with mental health, according to the charity's website.
Shortly after the event, Middleton posted a message to Twitter. “Having met some of the incredible volunteers today to hear their stories and see how they facilitate conversations, it's obvious how their empathetic approach helps people feel safe, calm and listened to,” her tweet said.
“Mental health support and resources across the UK have made significant strides over the last decade,” the message continued. “@GiveUsAShout, through its 24/7 text messaging service, has been a huge contributor and consistent support for children, young people & adults during their most difficult times.”
While visiting the headquarters, Middleton talked to clinical supervisors, volunteers and supervisors and thanked them for providing support for individuals struggling with mental health (and those just needing someone to talk to). The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge care deeply about mental health, so it’s no surprise that Middleton would be at such an event.
