Kate Middleton is sending citizens of the U.K. on a little scavenger hunt.
On Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge announced that she had teamed up with The Book Fairies U.K. to share copies of her new book, Hold Still, with people around the country. Per an Instagram slideshow, the 39-year-old revealed that book fairies, the Hold Still judges and participants of the final 100 images are leaving copies at places that gave them hope during the lockdown.
The post includes a video and three pics of Middleton (looking chic in a red coat), placing a copy of the photo book alongside a fountain at Kensington Palace.
According to the caption, “Each copy is adorned with a gold book fairy sticker, gold ribbon, and has a letter from The Duchess tucked inside.” Yup—a special note from the duchess herself.
Fans and followers showed their excitement for the sweet game in the comments section of the post. One user wrote, “Wow! Wouldn’t that be lovely to find one! Well done,” while another added, “Such a lovely, lovely project and brilliant idea.”
The duchess launched the initiative back in 2020, in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The project was an effort to "help capture the spirit, the mood, the hopes, the fears and the feelings of the U.K." with photos taken by people across the United Kingdom. The campaign ultimately received 31,598 submissions and 100 portraits were selected as finalists and published in the book by the National Portrait Gallery, along with the stories behind each of them.
