Kate Middleton Turns Heads in Stunning Green Dress at Trooping the Colour

Let’s take a moment to appreciate Kate Middleton’s Trooping the Colour outfit.

Today, the royal family attended the annual Trooping the Colour celebration in London, where they watched a city-wide parade before gathering on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the anticipated RAF fly-past.

For the event, the Princess of Wales wore a stunning green dress by Singapore-born, Paris-based designer Andrew Gn. The lime-colored ensemble comes from the brand's Spring/Summer 2023 collection and it's a long-sleeve design with blue appliqués that run down the center (and they sewn onto the breast pockets). As noted by People, the color choice seems to be a nod to the Irish Guards, of which Princess Catherine recently became colonel. Meanwhile, the choice in designer seems to be a nod to her husband, Prince William (40), whose third annual Earthshot Prize ceremony will take place in Singapore this November.

The Princess of Wales accessorized with a matching green hat courtesy of Philip Treacy. She added a golden shamrock brooch to her dress and she also wore Princess Diana's go-to diamond sapphire earrings, which she wore to Trooping the Colour last year, too.

Princess Catherine (41) attended the event alongside her husband and their three children, Prince George (9), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5). Other attendees included King Charles (duh) and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

Trooping the Colour holds a special meaning to the British royal family because the annual event serves as King Charles’s second birthday celebration. Although he was born on November 14, the monarch also has a celebratory birthday in June (aka Trooping the Colour). The British monarchy established the holiday in 1748 to fulfill a request by King George II. Since the patriarch’s birthday was in November (like King Charles), he created the event so he could have a second, grander birthday party in the summer.

Last year, Princess Catherine wore a white blazer dress designed by Alexander McQueen. She had previously donned the same ensemble at a G7 Leaders’ reception at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

We’ll just assume our Trooping the Colour invite got lost in the mail.
