Justin Hartley Warns Fans About ‘This Is Us’ Ending: ‘You’re Going to See the Impact’

Change is afoot for the Big Three on This Is Us. Gulp.

Justin Hartley (who plays Kevin Pearson) recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he discussed the show’s sixth (and final) season. While the latest episodes will highlight each member of the Big Three—Kevin (Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown)—Hartley warned that the characters are nearing their breaking points.

“Each character is making a decision that is going to change the course of their life from here,” he told the outlet. “You’re going to see the impact that had on the three kids and what they choose to do because of that very powerful speech.”

Hartley was referring to Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) monologue in episode seven, where she appointed Kate as the person who will make decisions for her once her dementia has progressed. Hartley explained that the Big Three will struggle to honor Rebecca’s wishes.

“[They’re] very clear about what she wanted—until they go to do it,” he said. “And that’s one of the things that happens in the episode: Kevin has this idea of what his mom wants, and he’s on a mission, like, ‘OK, this is going to be my thing.’”

Hartley confirmed that a devastating event will rock the Pearson family, though he didn’t share any details. In the end, his character will discover “a really beautiful part of himself through all of that tragedy. All three kids do that.”

This Is Us returns to NBC on March 27 at 9 p.m. And we’re in no way prepared for what’s to come.
