Beloved comedienne Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed yesterday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Veep star announced the heartbreaking news on Twitter with a photo of a note she wrote on her personalized stationery. She shared, “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one.”

The Emmy Award-winning actress exhibited strength and positivity, writing, “The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

She captioned the powerful note, “Just when you thought…”

Louis-Dreyfus received the diagnosis one day after scoring her record-breaking sixth consecutive Emmy win for her role as Selina Meyer on Veep. The show has been renewed for a seventh and final season, and production will reportedly be adjusted to work around her treatments.

We’re sending lots of love, laughter and positive energy her way.
