Josh Duhamel, 50, and his wife, Audra Mari, 29, can quit brainstorming baby names, because it seems Duhamel’s 10-year-old son, Axl, already has a name all picked out.
During a visit to Live with Kelly and Mark, the Life as We Know It actor talked about Mari’s pregnancy, as well as how excited Axl is to be an older sibling. He also revealed that Axl has a name in mind for the baby: Gary.
It all started when Kelly Ripa said to Duhamel, “You dropped some pretty big news the other day, did you want to share it with the rest of the audience?” To which the Love, Simon star responded, “Well, my wife and I are expecting a baby.”
Following an eruption of cheers from the audience, Ripa asked Duhamel: “So, does Axl know?”
And Duhamel said, “He does know. He's excited, he's very excited.” He added, “I don't think he quite understands that it's actually real. He will once he sees this little thing right in front of him...I think I'm probably the same.”
After Ripa noted that Axl is at the age to be “prime big brother material,” Duhamel said that he thought it would be good for the 10-year-old, since he's been an only child up to this point, but he added that Axl is going to be a “great older brother.”
When Mark Consuelos asked if Duhamel and Mari had any names in mind, Duhamel said he couldn't reveal them, but he did note: “[Axl], he likes Gary. He wants to name the baby Gary.”
The Safe Haven star then joked and added, “I think if we have a dog, we'll name it Gary.”
This will be Duhamel and Mari’s first child together. The pair tied the knot in September 2022. Duhamel shares Axl with his ex-wife, Fergie.
