Wait, ‘Manifest’ Star Josh Dallas Was in ‘Thor’ (and Then Got Replaced)?!

Now that Manifest has been picked up by Netflix for a fourth and final season, we’re currently re-bingeing the first three installments. Naturally, doing so has sent us into multiple IMDB deep dives researching the stars behind a few of our favorite characters, including the actor who plays Ben Stone: Josh Dallas.

As it turns out, Dallas has had a handful of roles outside of Manifest and as Prince Charming/David Nolan in the ABC television series Once Upon a Time. In fact, we didn’t realize that he also had a role in Marvel’s Thor, before being replaced due to a scheduling conflict.

Per CBR, Dallas played the role of Fandral—one of Thor's best friends and part of the Warriors Three—in the first superhero film centered around the God of Thunder. The 42-year-old had signed on to return for the sequel, The Dark World, but had to give up the role to film the second season of OUAT. That’s when Zachary Levi stepped in.

If you’re a fan of the Marvel films, you probably didn’t even notice the swap, considering Fandral doesn’t play a huge role in the actual plot of the films. Spoiler alert, Fandral is murdered fairly early on in the third film, Thor: Ragnarok.

Manifest tells the mysterious story of a group of passengers who board a flight that lands five years in the future. The 191 travelers return to a world that is quite different from the one they left behind. In addition to Dallas, the series also stars Melissa Roxburgh (Star Trek Beyond), Athena Karkanis (Saw VI), J.R. Ramirez (Jessica Jones), Luna Blaise (Fresh Off the Boat), Jack Messina (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and Parveen Kaur (Beyond).

Who knows? maybe Dallas will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.
