Just because John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are practically the dictionary definition of couple goals doesn’t mean they were always that way. In fact, the “All of Me” singer, 40, just revealed that his meet-cute with the 33-year-old model wasn’t quite love at first sight.
During a recent appearance on Access Live, Legend discussed the moment he first met Teigen on the set of his music video for “Stereo” in 2006. Although he was admittedly attracted to her, the musician had no idea what he was getting himself into.
“It was at least lust at first sight for both of us and then, you know, obviously it developed in that day and that moment,” he said. “We had instant chemistry that day and then we started dating not long after that and here we are, married with two kids.”
The couple officially started dating in 2007, and—according to Legend—it was a long-distance relationship at first. “She would come meet me out on the road,” he continued. “We would go on little trips together. We went to, like, Mexico. We went to Italy.”
The “Love Me Now” singer went on to explain why Italy is so important to the family of four. “I’d say that the time we fell in love was our first trip to Italy and so we ended up getting married there, and we go back there almost every year,” he added. “Italy is, like, our love spot.”
Who would have thought that “lust at first sight” would turn into a marriage with two kids?
