Even John Bradley (aka Samwell) Doesn’t Know How ‘Game of Thrones’ Ends

John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) is just as confused as we are about the ending of Game of Thrones.

The 30-year-old actor appeared on yesterday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he discussed the eighth (and final) season of the popular HBO series. When the daytime host pressed him for details about how the show will end, Bradley gave a puzzling answer that confirms the Iron Throne is anybody’s game.

He said, “I don’t know what I know is true.” Confused? You’re not alone.

Basically, he’s trying to say that while he thinks he knows how the series will end, he wouldn’t be surprised if the showrunners lied to him. And the only way to find out is to watch the weekly episodes like us plebeians.

“I may ultimately know—but you may not know,” he added. “But I’m not going to know that I know until I know that I know.”

Bradley went on to discuss his character and revealed that even he’s surprised that Sam survived the Battle of Winterfell in episode three.

“I didn’t think I was going to survive either,” he continued. “Because you’re always kind of looking at the script for those episodes with one eye open.”

Moral of the story: We’re just as clued in about the GoT ending as Sam—as in, not at all. Season eight of Game of Thrones airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on HBO.
