Jennifer Garner’s ‘Pretend Cooking Show’ Returns with a Tasty Snack Recipe
Are you constantly craving tortilla chips? *Slowly raises hand* Welp, Jennifer Garner understands the struggle.
The Love, Simon star and Ina Garten enthusiast loves blue corn tortilla chips so much that she took to Instagram to share a step-by-step guide for making the healthy treat she reaches for when a crunch craving strikes: beet chips.
Another hack for when you (me) are craving the crunch of blue corn tortilla chips...BEET CHIPS! Naturally sweet and completely addicting. #nothingisbetterthanatortillachip #thesecomeprettyclose #pickyourlunch ? ? ? Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. 2. Wash your beets really well. 3. Lop off the tops and slice the beets into very thin slivers. Use a mandolin if you?re so inclined. Mind your fingers! 4. Lightly coat the beets in olive oil and lay them out on a greased baking sheet. 5. Sprinkle them with salt. 6. Put in the oven for one hour. 7. Remove and be careful, they?re hot. 8. Enjoy! Yum!
In a stunning slideshow of photos, Garner proves she deserves her own Food Network show. First, she washes her homegrown (!) beets. She has standard beets, golden beets and white beets galore. After cleaning those bad boys, Garner puts the pedal beet to the metal of her mandoline. She tosses the sliced veggies in olive oil and salt, tosses ’em onto a baking sheet, puts them in the oven for an hour and—bam— a salty treat with nutritional value.
As delicious as her recipe sounds, Garner is the first to admit that no chip alternative is quite as good as an actual tortilla chip. Since honesty is the best policy, the Tribes of Palos Verdes star tacked the hashtag #NothingIsBetterThanATortillaChip onto her recipe caption.
This isn’t the first time Garner took to social media to share her cooking skills. In December, she shared her own take on Garten’s Honey White Bread recipe with a set of adorable bread men. The Barefoot Contessa took notice of Garner’s culinary prowess and applauded her, saying, “I love her videos so much. She is adorable and smart and not at all performing—that’s just who she is. I just think she’s really special.” So do we, Ina. So do we.
We’re going to be cautiously optimistic and try these beet chips, but we’re doubtful anything can fill the tortilla-shaped hole in our heart.
