Thanks to yesterday’s taping of The View, actor Jason Ritter is the proud new Guinness World Record holder for most hugs in one minute, a record we didn’t know existed, but we’re sure glad it does.
The star of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World (Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC) enlisted the show’s cohosts and audience members to form a 100-person lineup—he had to beat the previous record of 79—in honor of what ABC dubbed “National Hug a Kevin Day.” (Yeah, it’s a promotional stunt, but we kinda love it.)
And of course, since this is world record breaking we’re talking about, there were rules: Arms must wrap all the way around and torsos must connect in order for the hug to count. When the hugging spree commenced, Ritter was able to hug 86 people before the buzzer went off. Victory!
But just to make sure everyone got a hug, the champ continued down the line. Don’t worry, the judge only counted hugs that were completed prior to the one-minute mark.
