When it comes to the kitchen we can all agree that Ina Garten knows best, no? So when she gives us advice on decorating (in addition to mastering an apple pie bar), well, we listen.
In her newest tome, Cook Like a Pro, Ina lets in on a great little form-meets-function decor secret. Throughout the book, she spends a ton of time talking about how salt and acid amp up the flavor of a dish, and when you think it needs something more, often one of these two simple ingredients is the answer. Her question, then: Why not just leave them out on the countertop? Ina recommends purchasing coordinated vessels for your salt and citrus (think: a stoneware pinch bowl for salt and matching larger fruit bowl for lemons and limes). The thinking here is that by corralling these important ingredients in pretty bowls on display, you'll be encouraged to reach for them more often. The added bonus? They're just as lovely to look at as fresh-cut flowers.
Oh Ina, you think of everything.
