Study Unveils How Long Women Actually Want to Be Engaged For (Psst: It’s a Shocker)

One might think that after the initial excitement of becoming engaged, brides-to-be would be champing at the bit to make things official and start living happily ever after ASAP.

But according to a survey conducted by the jewelry brand Brilliant Earth, modern brides are anything but overzealous when it comes to waltzing down the aisle.

After polling 1,000 participants, the study found that women are actually 60 percent more likely than men to prefer a long engagement period. And just how long are we talking here? A leisurely two (or more) years. Whoa. 

Whether this attests to today's bride being fiscally organized, cautiously optimistic or simply enjoying the state of being engaged is hard to say. But one thing is certain: Wedding times, they are a-changin'
