If only you could relocate to Hawaii, you’d finally stop stressing and be a much happier person, right? Well, not necessarily.
According to a recent study by personal finance website WalletHub, the happiest state in the U.S. isn’t in the Pacific Ocean. It turns out the happiest state in America is actually—drum roll, please—the Gopher State (aka Minnesota).
The guys over at WalletHub judged every state in the country across 28 key metrics, including job satisfaction, divorce rate and life expectancy, in order to put together its 2017 Happiest States in America report. And the results are fascinating.
While Minnesota didn’t place highest for any single category, it consistently scored near the top. For example, the Land of 10,000 Lakes was in the top five states for highest volunteer rate, lowest divorce rate and safety. (And also the best damn Swedish meatballs outside of Scandinavia.)
After Minnesota came Utah, Hawaii, California and Nebraska.
BRB, planning a vacation move to Minnesota ASAP.
