Behold! ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2 First Photos Are Here & They’re Bleaker Than We Could’ve Imagined
Blessed be the season two Handmaid’s Tale anticipation.
Fresh off two Golden Globes wins, three first-look images from the hit drama’s sophomore season just dropped and they’re somehow even more depressing than season one. See what Gilead has in store for Offred (Elisabeth Moss) and the other handmaids come April.
The last time we saw Offred, she was being hauled away in a van. Now, she’s inexplicably covered in blood. Just another day in Gilead!
HMT showrunner Bruce Miller gushed about working with Moss, saying, “Lizzie is such an incredible partner on this with me. Sometimes while writing the scripts, I just really wanted to surprise her. She’s even better in season two, if you can believe it.” Um, we believe you.
According to Miller, season two will explore the lives of Gilead refugees (like Samira Wiley’s and residents of the infamous Colonies, pictured above.
In yet another chilling image, the handmaids gather for a funeral memorializing one of their own. Can we take a moment to appreciate the juxtaposition between the beautiful snow and their terrifying face coverings?
Just three more months until The Handmaid’s Tale returns to Hulu. We’re as excited as a bunch of handmaids gabbing over oranges.
