‘Game of Thrones’ Author George R.R. Martin’s Next Big Project Is Called ‘Elden Ring’

Game of Thrones fans are getting more from the series creator, but don't expect to see Jon Snow or Ghost anywhere else just yet.

The news that George R.R. Martin is releasing a video game called Elden Ring (which definitely sounds like a Lord of the Rings sequel title and has a few sortaaaaa-similar elements like a magic ring, as referenced in the trailer here) was announced at Microsoft's E3 2019 conference over the weekend.

The GoT author partnered with From Software to produce the fantasy title coming to Xbox One and PC, which will be based on Hidetaka Miyazaki's Dark Souls video game franchise and set in the same universe as those games.

Now, before you start griping about yet another Martin-helmed project that feels like procrastination... OK, yeah, go ahead and complain (because we may never see The Winds of Winter or A Dream of Spring in our lifetimes at this rate).

The dude just finished a 700-page history on House Targaryen, is working on the Thrones HBO sequels, writing comic books, working on another HBO fantasy series, writing blog posts and talking about the unfinished endings of the last two books.

And now a new (albeit really cool-sounding) video game. C'mon, George. Throw us a bone book.
