After five months of spit-up and diaper changes and an eight-year hiatus from TV, George Clooney is returning to the small screen as a series regular for the first time since his days as Dr. Doug Ross on ER. *Breaks into embarrassing happy dance*
Clooney will direct and star in a six-episode limited series based on Joseph Heller’s 1961 novel, Catch-22. The dad of two will portray Colonel Cathcart, a group commander for the U.S. Army who will do anything to please his superiors, according to Variety.
Catch-22 tells the story of Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier who challenges the bureaucratic rule known as catch-22, a paradoxical requirement that makes it nearly impossible to be relieved from duty.
Luke Davies (Lion) and David Michôd (The Rover) will pen the script, and Clooney’s producing partner, Grant Heslov (Argo), will also direct a few episodes.
We’d love to hear what Ella and Alexander have to say about this.
