George Clooney Finally Revealed How He Proposed to Amal, and It’s So Dreamy
George and Amal Clooney are notoriously mum about their private lives, but even George couldn’t keep his lips sealed about the deeply romantic way he proposed to Amal.
The new dad spoke candidly in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter about his unforgettable journey to becoming a husband and a father to twins.
The couple met through a mutual friend in July 2013 in Lake Como, Italy, and quickly realized they were meant to be. They went on their first date in October 2013 when Amal and the Money Monster star got together in London, and their love blossomed so quickly and naturally that by February 2014, George was thinking marriage.
On April 28, 2014, Amal and George had dinner at his home in Studio City, California, and every hopeless romantic's fantasy proposal unfolded.
“I [cooked] pasta of some form,” George recalled. “And then over Champagne, after dinner, I told her there was a lighter to light the candle in the drawer, and she reached back and pulled out a ring.” Boom.
Because George is a director and mise-en-scène is everything, he subtly had music by his songstress aunt, Rosemary Clooney, playing in the background to ensure the mood was just right. Amal stared at the ring (for about “20 minutes”), and the rest is history.
Excuse us...we need a moment.
