*Warning: Spoilers ahead*
Aside from the giant bombshell that is the first official photo from season eight, Game of Thrones blessed us with more fodder to fuel our (dragon) fire.
Writing for Entertainment Weekly, reporter James Hibberd toured the final season’s set and was able to disclose a few huge clues about season eight’s premiere.
“Season 8 opens at Winterfell with an episode that contains plenty of callbacks to the show’s pilot,” Hibberd writes. “Instead of King Robert’s procession arriving, it’s Daenerys and her army. What follows is a thrilling and tense intermingling of characters—some of whom have never previously met, many who have messy histories—as they all prepare to face the inevitable invasion of the Army of the Dead.” Holy sh*t, it’s all happening, you guys!
Co-executive producer Bryan Cogman said the final season is “incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet.”
“It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death,” Cogman said.
Hibberd also reveals that Sansa’s not too pleased Jon Snow bent the knee to his aunt/girlfriend/Daenerys, which means major *drama* for the Stark family is definitely in store.
Move over, Bran the three-eyed raven. We’re in full Tyrion mode now—in that we drink and we know things (about season eight).
