HBO Announced Its Chosen ‘Game of Thrones’ Directors for Season 8 and We Like It a Lot

HBO just announced the chosen ones directors for the remaining six episodes of Game of Thrones and all signs point to a helluva final season.

Emmy Award-winning helmer Miguel Sapochnik, who directed two of the show’s most notable episodes—“Battle of the Bastards” and “The Winds of Winter”—will lend his keen eye to season eight. David Nutter, another director who won an Emmy for his work on GoT, will also return to the Seven Kingdoms. Beware, though, because this is the same dude who directed “Mother’s Mercy,” the season five finale, and season three’s deadly Red Wedding episode, “The Rains of Castamere.” You’ve officially been warned.

No word yet on how many episodes both Sapochnik and Nutter will direct. The high honor of directing the series finale, however, goes to Game of Thrones show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who directed the early episodes “Walk of Punishment” and “Two Swords.”

GoT resumes production this October, but the verdict is still out on when we’ll actually be able to watch season eight. In the meantime, we’ll be researching GoT-themed dog Halloween costumes.
