Gwendoline Christie’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Premiere Gown Is All Fire & No Ice
On Game of Thrones, Gwendoline Christie plays a fierce warrior (ahem, Brienne of Tarth. Ever heard of her?) whose uniform consists of chain mail and armor. But in real life she’s a total fashionista. The proof? Her stunning GoT season eight premiere couture dress and Vogue-worthy poses.
The 40-year-old actress arrived at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last night to celebrate the show’s final season swathed in an Iris Van Herpen blanket of chiffon.
Christie’s flowing gold and purple abstract print gown featured layers of chiffon that seemed to float as she walked down the carpet. It also featured a subtle yet sexy low illusion neckline that the actress rocked with panache.
Christie leaned into the frock’s ethereal vibe by bringing her posing A-game and lifting her arms up so the sleeves billowed out like wings while photographers clicked away. It was a lot of look, but she carried it effortlessly.
The dress is from Iris Van Herpen’s spring 2019 couture collection, which Christie previewed at Paris fashion week this past January.
Not one to overdo it, Christie paired the look with fresh, dewy rose-gold-hued makeup and wore her bright blonde lob in a deep part with waves. She kept her jewelry simple and opted for delicate gold earrings made of three interconnected hoops with pave diamond accents. And because she knows skipping heels is never something to regret, the 6-foot-3 GoT star wore gold Mary Jane-style mules instead of stilettos.
Brienne of Tarth would be proud.
