HBO Quietly Removed *That* Coffee Cup from This Weeks ‘Game of Thrones’

Remember that Starbucks cup that mysteriously made its way into Winterfell during Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4? Well, it looks like that cup is long gone...because HBO has quietly removed it from the episode.

Yup, the now-infamous disposable takeout cup (which turns out wasn’t a Starbucks cup after all) was removed from the shot on HBO Go, with absolutely no comment from the company itself. Pretty sneaky.

If you missed it, the cup appeared at about the 17-minute-mark when Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) congratulated and praised Jon (Kit Harington) on his successes while Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) observed.

And while not everyone spotted it immediately, several fans noticed the cardboard cup placed on the table in front of Dany—and the internet went wild. Rightfully so, since the item contradicts the show’s timeline and geography and the fact that coffee chains don’t exist in the fictional world of Westeros.

Here’s a look at the original scene, cup and all.

Right there in plain sight.

But only a few days later, the cup is no more. Is it weird that we kind of miss it?
