Every year, Forbes publishes a list that, let’s be honest, we’ll never appear on: the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women. It’s based on visibility and economic impact, and Angela Merkel has been holding onto the top spot for like, a million years (save for 2010), but we see you, number 20. The woman who beat out Taylor Swift, Queen Bey and Queen-IRL-Elizabeth? Drumroll, please…
It’s Oprah Winfrey, guys. Duh—it’s Oprah!
According to Forbes, the myriad reasons the 64-year-old mogul landed in the top 20 include her multi-year content partnership with Apple, her multimedia empire, her success as a brand ambassador for Weight Watchers, her generous philanthropic work and winning the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. Oh yeah, and a real-time net worth of $2.7 billion.
All we know is, if you’ve been quoted as saying, “My idea of heaven is a great big baked potato and someone to share it with,” you damn well deserve that top-20 spot.
