Yaaasss! Peter Dinklage Takes Home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

We love a good dramatic actor, but only one reigns supreme.

Tonight, the 71st annual Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. During the ceremony, Peter Dinklage won the statuette for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for playing Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones.

He beat out Jonathan Banks for Better Call Saul, Giancarlo Esposito for Better Call Saul, Alfie Allen for Game of Thrones, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau for Game of Thrones, Michael Kelly for House of Cards and Chris Sullivan for This Is Us.

The Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category originally made its debut in 1954. Previous winners include Dinklage for Game of Thrones, John Lithgow for The Crown, Ben Mendelsohn for Bloodline, Aaron Paul for Breaking Bad, Bobby Cannavale for Boardwalk Empire, Michael Emerson for Lost and Željko Ivanek for Damages.
