The Beautiful Meaning Behind Emma Stone's Daughter's Name

It is no secret that Emma Stone keeps her personal life, well... somewhat secretive, and we don't blame her! With the highly-anticipated Disney remake of 101 Dalmatians, Cruella, releasing this Friday in theaters, all eyes are on Emma Stone. While her life at home with husband, Dave McCary, and new baby girl may be out of the spotlight, Vanity Fair revealed that the Oscar-winning actress and segment director named their daughter Louise Jean McCary, and the meaning behind it is... lovely.

Emma and Dave shocked us all with their engagement in 2019. The engagement came a few years after dating the Saturday Night Live director, who she met on set for a segment McCary directed while Stone was hosting SNL. Lucky for us, McCary posted a photo to Instagram debuting the incredible news that the two were taking the next step. The photo we see below shows their newly-engaged glowing faces and a glimpse of Emma's beautiful pearl ring. (Well done, Dave.)

Earlier this year, news of the now married couple's pregnancy leaked and left us in high-anticipation while we waited for them to welcome their baby girl on March 13th.

The two named their baby girl Louise Jean McCary, after her own middle-name and her grandmother's name—linking three generations of women together. Fun fact, Emma's full name is Emily Jean Stone, taking after her grandmother, Jean Louise Morgan. Stone and McCary swapped the name around as a beautiful tribute to the important woman in the couple's lives. We can't help but get a little misty-eyed over the touching meaning, especially after recent Mother's Day celebrations—Stone's grandmother clearly means the world to her and family.

Plus, in an era where celebrities often name their newborns--er--interesting names, it's refreshing to see something so classic and lovely.

Now, all there is to do is wait in anticipation for a photo of baby Louise Jean McCary—we're looking at you, Dave! (Fingers-crossed!) Until then, we'll be waiting with popcorn in-hand to see Stone star in Cruella.
