Fact: A Quiet Place would be nothing without John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s on-screen chemistry, but you might be surprised to know the role of Evelyn Abbott almost went to another actress.
In a recent interview with Independent, Krasinski revealed that he was “too scared” to ask his wife to star in A Quiet Place, so he cast another “famous name” actress. That all changed when Blunt read the script on a flight and fell in love with the story line.
He said, “I can’t say who, but essentially, yes—Emily had someone fired.”
Krasinski went on to say that he enjoys working with his wife, adding, “It without a doubt made our marriage stronger. I think we were both surprised by that. Not that I thought it would get worse, but we were much more in love after the movie. We leaned on each other in a way we never had.”
Of course, the actor threw in a joke for old times’ sake. “I also certainly wouldn’t have felt as comfortable watching someone else pretend to give birth in a bathtub,” he added.
