Why Did Elyse Leave ‘The Bachelor’? Here, All the Deets on Her Dramatic Exit

If Elyse’s dramatic exit during last night’s episode of The Bachelor left you baffled, you’re not alone.

On season 23, episode five of the popular dating series, the self-proclaimed “cougar” let the competition psych her out. It all started when the group date card arrived in Khao Lak, Thailand, and it had her name on it.

She said, “I had the world’s most perfect date, and to watch people go on dates and come back and be so excited…for me, I just feel kind of heartbroken.” (ICYMI: Elyse went on a one-on-one date back in episode three, where she and Colton Underwood hung out with kids at an amusement park in San Diego.)

Her “gutted” feeling was only heightened when never-been-kissed Heather returned from her one-on-one date and revealed that she lost her kissing v-card.

This prompted Elyse to track down Colton for a confrontation. When she entered his room, she told him that she’s struggling with their lack of time together and asked to leave the show.

So, why did the 31-year-old sabotage her Bachelor experience? We’re not entirely sure, considering her explanation was all over the place.

Although Underwood assured her that he’s been in her position, Elyse admitted that she’s not comfortable “competing” with the other contestants.

But as the conversation dragged on, she started to blame her exit on her strong feelings, claiming it’s not fair that he’s dating 12 other women.

“I want the time and attention that a relationship deserves,” she said before adding that she “can’t accept a proposal after a few months of sharing your time.” Um, has she never seen the show?

Of course, it didn’t take long for Elyse to regret her decision. In an interview with producers, she tearfully revealed that she “made a really, really stupid mistake.”

At the end of the day, all she had to say was that she’s not made for reality TV. The Bachelor returns to ABC next Monday, February 11, at 8 p.m.
