Ellie Kemper is getting ready for the holidays in the best way possible—by interviewing herself. From the worst gift she’s ever received to which co-star she would want to have over for Christmas, the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star gifted us with all of her festive secrets.
While promoting her collaboration with HP, which created over 250 hours of screen-free activities (sign us up!), Kemper sat down with PureWow to talk about the importance of cutting back on “screen time” (we fully agree) and how she gets through the busy holiday season.
Oh, and the 39-year-actress made it clear, that when it comes to wrapping, she’s no professional. “I am a terrible wrapper. So I usually just wrap them very poorly myself.”
Kemper also revealed the worst gift she’s ever received. “Oh, I’ll just say it. I’ve received a lot of anti-aging moisturizers, from people in my life. And I don’t think that’s a good gift to give a woman.” Ouch.
And although she didn’t specify who gave her such a gift, we can assume it wasn’t her friend Mindy Kaling—considering Kaling was her choice for the co-star she would want to have over for the holidays.
In answer to who she'd want to have visit the most, Kemper said, “Mindy Kaling, who played Kelly Kapoor on The Office because she can talk about anything.”
The mother of two also gave us some details on her upcoming Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt interactive special coming in 2020. “The show is basically a choose your own adventure. And then the show continues down whichever choice you made.
In the words of Kemper herself, we’ll “definitely be watching that.”
