Ellen Page is back in the business of playing a superhero.
Page, who played the disappearing Kitty Pryde in X-Men: Days of Future Past, signed on to star in Netflix’s new series The Umbrella Academy. Based on the award-winning comic book by former My Chemical Romance front man Gerard Way, the ten-episode series portrays a family of superheroes with vastly different personalities who struggle to work together as they try to solve their father’s death.
Page plays Vanya, the only member of the family who doesn’t have superpowers and is thus treated like an outsider. Vanya makes up for her lack of supernatural abilities with her killer musical talent as a violin virtuoso.
Steve Blackman (Fargo) will serve as showrunner alongside Jeremy Slater (The Exorcist), who will pen the adaptation’s script. The live-action drama is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2018.
Ellen Page and Netflix? We’re super into it.
