If you remember the iconic “beard bead phase” that Brad Pitt went through in 2009, then this all-new photo of Elle Fanning will surely make you do a double take.
Yesterday, the Maleficent actress, 22, appeared on an at-home episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. While discussing her upcoming Hulu series The Great, Fanning revealed that she’s practically Pitt’s doppelgänger.
At the 3:10 mark, Fanning holds up a photo of Pitt next to a snap of herself dressed as the actor. “That’s me,” she says. “That’s Brad Pitt in his beard bead phase when he wore beard beads.”
Fanning goes on to explain that it was a game she played with her The Great co-stars, where they impersonated famous celebs. According to the actress, the idea originated on the set of The Crown and was passed down to them through an observant makeup artist.
“Basically, we would do this on set. It was called the Doppelgänger Challenge, and the set of The Crown did it, as well,” Fanning explains. “And our makeup designer did The Crown, so she was like—we were in competition with them and we totally won. We went all out, the cast. Like, we had this group chat, going dressed up as celebrities—people from different characters in film.”
