Wait, the New Actress Portraying Princess Diana on ‘The Crown’ Was in *This* Major Marvel Movie Role?!

One of our preferred games is hunting down acting crossovers between our favorite shows and movies. In the past few months, we've learned that Virgin River's Martin Henderson starred in a Britney Spears music video, while a Manifest star got to feature on a TV show with Meghan Markle.

Now, we just discovered that the woman who will fill the role of Princess Diana on season 5 and 6 of Netflix's The Crown is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That's right. Elizabeth Debicki, who will portray the Princess of Wales, was previously a star in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Ayesha (you know, the one in all gold?). As a newcomer in the second installment, Debicki acted alongside alums from the first Guardians film, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. The movie would go on to receive positive reviews from critics and earn almost $900 million at the box office (nothing to sneeze at).

But this is not all that Debicki has accomplished. The 31-year-old Australian actress has quite the impressive résumé, even though she only made her feature film debut in 2011.

Since her debut, Debicki nabbed the role of Jordan Baker in the 2013 adaptation of The Great Gatsby as well as Victoria Vinciguerra in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. And just last year, she filled the part of Catherine Barton in Tenet, where she starred alongside Robert Pattinson and John David Washington.

Netflix already released a promotional photo from season 5 of The Crown, where we got the first glimpse of Debicki transformed into Princess Diana.

We can't wait to see her in action when The Crown returns in 2022. (In the meantime, we'll be rewatching the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.)
