The ‘Downton Abbey’ Movie's First Full-Length Trailer Is Here, and You Have to See the Carson Scene

Great Grantham! The new full-length Downton Abbey movie trailer just arrived, and they've been expecting us...

The two-minute trailer gives us a first glimpse at the entire Crawley family, as well as the plot of the movie.

In 1927, King George V and Queen Mary (aka Queen Elizabeth’s grandparents) are visiting Downton Abbey. Except, times are tough, and the Crawley clan has cut back on staff and servants. In order to prep for the royal family arrival, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) has asked Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) to return from retirement to help out the family and get the Abbey in tip-top shape just as the world seems to be bordering on disarray. Lady Mary is toying with leaving Downton for a new life with her husband, Henry Talbot (Matthew Goode), as preparations for the king and queen's visit are at a fever pitch. Anna Bates (Joanne Froggatt), Lady Mary’s loyal maid, reminds her that Downton plays a pivotal role in the small English village.

“Downton Abbey is the heart of this community and you’re keeping it beating," she reminds Mary. We’re gonna need a minute.

But our favorite one-liner in the trailer comes from the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith), of course. "Remember to pray for us," Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) demands of his mother. "I'll put in a word," she snarkily fires back. Yasssss, Violet.

We also get some glimpses of the butlers' familiar faces: Thomas Barrow, Joseph Molesley and Andrew Parker appear in the new trailer.

Focus Features also released a new movie poster to go along with the trailer...and excuse us while we tear up because the band's back together, you guys!

Directed by Michael Engler and written by Julian Fellowes (who created the TV show), the movie will see the return of Henry Talbot (Goode), Lady Mary (Dockery), Lady Cora (Elizabeth McGovern), the Dowager Countess (Smith), Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael), Anna Bates (Froggatt), John Bates (Brendan Coyle), the Earl of Grantham (Bonneville) and more.

From the looks of the poster, Lord Grantham's new yellow lab Tiaa is settling in nicely. (R.I.P. Isis and Pharaoh.)

In December, the first teaser trailer for the Downton Abbey movie was released. While we didn't get a glimpse of our favorite on-screen family, we do see some of the same scenes from the official full-length trailer that was released today.

Grab your monocle and take a look at the other Downton Abbey movie posters, which were released in March.

The four photos give us a glimpse of the characters (Lady Mary and Lady Edith, is that you?!) as well as two of the Crawley family servants polishing up the silver and glasses.

The posters came after photos from the movie were released in December, including ones with Lady Mary and Henry Talbot in a romantic moment, Anna and Bates sharing a smile and holding hands, and Edith and Bertie joined by their daughter returning to Downton Abbey.

The movie will pick up 18 months after the PBS show left off. And from the looks of it, Lady Mary is settling into the 1920s flapper fashion nicely (and we're lovin' the new 'do!).

Someone ring for Mr. Carson. We need a nice hot cuppa tea to calm our excitement.

The movie is set to premiere on September 20, 2019.
