Destiny's Child Just Reunited & Showed That Their Sisterhood Is as Strong as Ever

Although Destiny's Child officially disbanded in 2006, that doesn't mean the women don't check in with one another on occasion.

Michelle Williams shared a series of posts on her Instagram account, which included an update on the musical trio. The 41-year-old singer and actress just released an intimate memoir, titled Checking In: How Getting Real About Depression Saved My Life—and Can Save Yours, and she decided to "check in" with her former band members.

In the first audio clip, Williams is heard talking with her old collaborators, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Kelly Rowland, who send loving messages to the new author. Rowland is heard shouting, “We're so proud of you, Mimi!” Meanwhile, Beyoncé chimes in, saying, “You are so inspirational for both of us, and we just love watching you become exactly who you are and for the world [to] see your impact, wisdom and beautiful advice.”

Williams shared the intimate moment on her Instagram account, writing: “Look who checked in yesterday with me!! The only time we’ll let y’all eavesdrop on our group chats!! #checkingin #thereunionyallhavebeenwaitingfor.”

Along with the first clip, Williams shared two others, which gave us a deeper look at the group's relationship. The author opened up about what inspired her to write a memoir, saying, “It's OK to not be OK. It's OK to tell somebody you're not OK. Because I honestly should have done that with y'all. I've been open about a lot of things, but I never was really truthful about how I really was. Even though y'all have proven to be safe friends, safe sisters, sometimes people have to know that you're not going to be looked at differently if you say, 'Y'all, I've been sad a little too long. Something's going on.'”

Rowland responded, “The greatest thing Destiny's Child has ever given me is my gift of friendship for you ladies.” Beyoncé added, “Kelly and I feel so honored that we are now your safe place where you can express any and everything.”

But the audio clips didn't just merely show the close friendship between the former groupmates. They also got fans excited for potential new music.

When Williams heard Rowland was cooking chicken and rice soup, she also asked Beyoncé if she was "cooking up any new music." To which the "Black Parade" singer responded with a clever quip: “I'm cooking some music. That's Chef Boyardee and Chef Boy-Kelly.”

We're glad to know that these ladies still keep in touch (and fingers crossed that the next time they decide to catch up, it'll be in the studio).
