Almost two weeks after being hospitalized for an apparent overdose, Demi Lovato is finally speaking out.

The “Tell Me You Love Me” singer took to Instagram to share an emotional written update on her health as she prepares to seek treatment for addiction.

Lovato began by explaining, “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time.”

The Grammy winner went on to say that she recognizes her battle with addiction is ongoing and expressed her gratitude for the “love and support” from her fans, saying, “Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.”

The “Sober” singer also thanked her family, team and the staff at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for keeping her safe because, as she wrote, “without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.”

Now, Lovato says she plans to take some “time to heal and focus” on sobriety and recovery, but that she looks “forward to the day where [she] can say [she] came out on the other side.”  She signed the letter with a promise to “keep fighting.”

Stay strong, Demi.
