Demi Lovato Pays Homage to Her Imperfections in the Most Inspiring Way
Demi Lovato loves herself—imperfections included—and she’s not sorry about it.
The “Confident” singer took to her Instagram Stories last night with a raw and honest message of self-love. In a series of photos and videos, Lovato pointed out areas of her body that don’t fit antiquated beauty standards and expressed that they don’t define her self-worth.
First, she shared a Boomerang video clip of herself grabbing her bare stomach. She wrote, “Stretch marks and extra fat...and yet I still love myself.” But she wasn’t done with her body-positive message just yet.
Next, Lovato posted a belfie (butt selfie…it’s a thing) Boomerang with an arrow pointing to her derrière and a caption reading, “Cellulite and yet I still love myself.” *Starts a slow clap*
And because she’s real, the singer, who has spoken candidly about her struggle with bulimia, clarified that the movement in the Boomerang “smoothed out” her legs and challenged followers to celebrate their bodies.
Next up in her artistic expression of self-acceptance was a mirror selfie in lounge clothes. Lovato wrote, “No thigh gap for me and yet I still love myself.” Yaass, Demi!
Brava, Demi. We’re feeling all the positive vibes.
