Daniel Gillies Says His ‘Virgin River’ Character ‘Could Appear at Any Time’ in Season 4

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

Virgin River is trying to keep us on our toes. While Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for season four, one of the stars is already teasing the future of his character.

Daniel Gillies, who portrays Mark Monroe (Mel’s now-deceased husband) on the show, recently sat down for an interview with Mr. WarBurton Magazine. (Fans of season one were shocked to discover that Mark died following an argument he had with Mel, which resulted in a fatal car crash.) During the chat, the Canadian-born New Zealand actor was asked about reprising his character in the fourth installment. And while he couldn’t say much, he did surprise us with his response.

“Here’s what I’ll say, somewhat enigmatically: the good news about being the dead husband is that you can appear at any time. I’ll leave it at that,” Gillies said. Not quite what we were expecting, but hey, we’ll take it.

As we mentioned above, Netflix has yet to reveal much about a fourth installment. However, production reportedly began last month, and we expect the new episodes to drop around this time next year. During season three, which aired earlier this summer, Mel and Jack (Martin Henderson), continued to grow their relationship. As the season progressed, it also explored Mel’s growing interest in starting a family even though Jack was less comfortable with the idea. So, it’s very likely that family will be another major theme in season four. (Hence, the possibility of bringing Gillies back.)

We’re ready for more flashbacks.
